Gary served honorably in the military for a total of 13 years, during Dessert Shield and more recently during Iraq and Afganistan returning home to his wife and 3 children in October 2007 after injuries sustained in combat.
In 2008 former Florida Governor Charlie Crist contacted Gary and asked him to represent all Florida Disabled Veteran Business Owners for a new bill being signed into law.

I want to thank the Small Business Development Center in Gainesville, Florida, the Veterans Business Development Center,the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, Florida House of Representatives, The Florida Senate, The United States Air Force, Tyndall Air Force Base, NAS Jacksonville, Mayport Naval Station and all supporters of this great Bill that was signed into Law today by Governor Charlie Crist. I will continue to advocate for the rights of disabled veterans. I will work with government to move these type's of bill's forward at the federal level. Governor Crist, is setting an example for other states to follow and we veterans honor him for this", said Gary.
